A história deste Vinho do Porto remonta à vindima de 1867 na Quinta das Carvalhas, uma das mais proeminentes propriedades do Alto Douro que se destaca na paisagem duriense pela sua beleza e pela espectacularidade das suas vinhas.Trata-se, verdadeiramente, de uma recôndita memória Viva do Séc. XIX preservada no tempo com meticuloso cuidado e quase religiosa devoção, inicialmente nas caves da reputada firma Miguel Souza Guedes, e mais tarde, em meados do Século. XX, por incorporação desta empresa, deixada aos cuidados das sucessivas gerações de mestres de cave da Real Companhia Velha.Este Vinho do Porto prosseguiu o seu longo e paciente envelhecimento nas sumptuosas caves da Vila Nova de Gaia, em pipas da mais nobre madeira de carvalho, até atingir a perfeição, destacando-se uma sumptuosidade aromática e uma inesquecível dimensão de prova.Após 149 anos de estágio e no ano das comemorações dos 260 anos da fundação desta Companhia Pombalina, o destino deste vinho cruza-se assim com a história da mais emblemática empresa de Vinho do Porto – A Real Companhia Velha – cujo legado se confunde com a própria história do Vinho do Porto.
