It was at Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo that the first study for monovarietal planting in the Douro region took place. Between 1979 and 1981, together with the Portuguese Ministry of Agriculture, through the Douro Wine Studies Center, the best sun exposures were chosen at Quinta Nova for the study of the plantation of three grape varieties: Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca.A Plot 28 of Quinta Nova planted with the Tinta Roriz variety, comprising 2650 feet and a slope of 25, located at an altitude between 205 and 210 meters. This variety clearly demonstrates the winemaking challenge and human persistence in preserving an ancient and authentic Douroa. The austerity of the variety is noticeable in the mouth, but at the same time, we are seduced by a somewhat contemporary sophistication that, combined with the century-old vineyard (Parcel 21) creates a blend that reveals a Reference in the Portuguese Douro, a wine full of minerality, blue fruits , rich in spicy notes with a firm structure and a very narrow mouth. The high concentration, density and depth clearly express its origin.Production: 3900 bottles.
