Petrus 2013 was bottled in June 2015. It has a very deep color for a 2013, very clear and lucid. The nose is undeniably very attractive, unfolding gently with black cherries, iodine, pot pourri and a touch of blueberry. The aromas are soft and unpretentious, but still very Pomerol and still very Petrus. The palate is medium-bodied and, for a 2013, it is certainly well structured, with the tannins giving a grainy mouthfeel. At this moment, it feels saline in the mouth, fresh and without any sign of greenness. It is a successful wine in the context of the 2013 harvest and I appreciated the clarity of what could be called its "clinical" finish. He doesn't have much persistence and leaves through the exit door quickly and not abruptly. No, it's not the best Petrus ever produced, not by a long shot, but it's certainly better than previous vintages like the 1986 and 1996.
