Fernão Favila Vieira was born in 1930 in Funchal and graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon. A diplomat by profession, he served in various parts of the world and was awarded Commander of the Order of Infante Dom Henrique as part of his duties. Throughout his life, he dedicated himself to literary, journalistic and political activities. In the exercise of his profession, Fernão Favila Vieira was also a privileged ambassador for Madeira Wine, never failing to serve and offer it on the most varied occasions. For this tribute I chose, from among my favorites, the best wines from the Boal variety aged in our warehouses over the last 40 years, using the traditional Canteiro method, to which I added others that were even much older. In July 2018, 739 units were bottled, individually numbered.
