Deep garnet-purple in color, Petrus 2017 comes galloping out of the glass with bold and expressive notions of Black Forest cake, blueberry preserves and Christmas pudding, with nuances of melted chocolate, Chinese five spice, crystallized violets, licorice and kirsch , in addition to roses and cinnamon sticks. Full-bodied, rich, spicy and fantastically concentrated, the palate has an attractive freshness and a solid base of wonderfully ripe and velvety tannins, finishing very long and opulent. The aromas, at this stage of youth, are atypical for Petrus and quite impressive - this 2017 is a bomb! Plus, it's a unique style for this property and an avid collector's must seek it out!ha.
