Vale Dona Maria - Vinha da Francisca TintoA Vinha da Francisca, plantada em 2004, é composta por cinco castas, plantadas separadamente: Sousão, Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Francisca e Rufete. Acreditamos que o conjunto destas 5 castas, espelha um perfil único do Douro. Com um total de 4,5 hectares, plantados no coração da Quinta Vale D. Maria, a Vinha da Francisca está orientada, sobretudo, a Sul e Sudeste – exposição que leva a uma excelente maturação das uvas e a uma expressão viva e marcante de cada casta.Vinificação e estágio: As uvas são colhidas à mão, cuidadosamente selecionadas no tapete de escolha e desengaçadas. Segue-se a pisa em lagares de granito, onde fermentam durante 7 a 10 dias, a temperaturas entre 22°C e 27°C. Os vinhos são depois trasfegados a limpo para barricas novas de carvalho francês de 225 litros, com diferentes perfis, onde ocorre a fermentação malolática. O estágio prolonga-se por 20 meses nestas mesmas barricas. A seleção final das barricas e a composição do lote são definidas cerca de um mês antes do engarrafamento, seguido de um estágio adicional em garrafa.

Vinho complexo, intenso e bem estruturado, com taninos bem presentes mas domesticados. Final longo e persistente, sugerindo um bom potencial de evolução em garrafa.
Frutos pretos maduros, como o mirtilo e a amora, com notas florais e especiarias, como a pimenta preta. A boa integração do estágio em barrica proporciona ligeiras notas fumadas.
