The Château Ausone 1999, Premier Grand Cru Classé A of Saint‑Émilion, is one of the most memorable vintages of the late 90s. Produced in extremely limited quantities — only about twenty thousand bottles — the wine reveals an almost supernatural density, with deep purple color and extraordinary intensity. On the nose, it presents striking notes of licorice, minerals, blackcurrant, and liqueur-like blueberry, with impressive definition and vigorous tannins — a bottled legend according to Robert Parker (95 pts). On the palate, it is refined, full, and persistent, with a silky texture and potential to age for decades, having reached its peak between around 2015 and 2050. The classic blend with Merlot and Cabernet Franc highlights the unique elegance and minerality of this terroir.
