The history of this Port Wine dates back to the harvest of 1867 at Quinta das Carvalhas, one of the most prominent properties in the Alto Douro, which stands out in the Duriense landscape for its beauty and the spectacular nature of its vineyards. It is truly a hidden living memory of the 19th century preserved over time with meticulous care and almost religious devotion, initially in the cellars of the renowned firm Miguel Souza Guedes, and later, in the mid-20th century, through the incorporation of this company, entrusted to the care of successive generations of cellar masters of the Real Companhia Velha. This Port Wine continued its long and patient aging in the sumptuous cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia, in barrels made of the finest oak wood, until it reached perfection, characterized by a sumptuous aromatic profile and an unforgettable tasting dimension. After 149 years of aging and in the year of the celebrations of the 260th anniversary of the foundation of this Pombaline Company, the fate of this wine thus intersects with the history of the most emblematic Port Wine company – the Real Companhia Velha – whose legacy is intertwined with the very history of Port Wine.
