Description
Dense ruby black core, surrounded by a purple red border. The nose is true to the Roêda style, a delicious fruity flavor combined with the musky, resinous redness of wild herbs and cistus gum. However, the year, with its typical purity and delicacy, placed this finely constituted wine at the elegant and subtle end of the Roêda spectrum. Mixed with typically sweet fruits are fresher notes of raspberry and apricot, and the palate is lifted by crisp acidity and supported by a dense warp of firm, punchy tannins. A little more restrained and clearly delineated than some recent Roêda vintages, the wine nevertheless shows the alluring ripe fruit that is the hallmark of this grand, historic estate.
