Quinta do Vale Meão wurde ab 1877 am Ufer des Flusses Douro auf zuvor unbebautem Land gepflanzt, das von der Gemeinde Vila Nova de Foz Côa erworben wurde. Es war die letzte große Errungenschaft von Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira – „Ferreirinha“. Es ist im Besitz seines Ururenkels Francisco Javier de Olazabal und umfasst heute 98 Hektar Weinberge auf Böden unterschiedlicher geologischer Herkunft: Schiefer, Granit und Schwemmland.
