Produktion des Quinta de la Rosa Tinto Weins: Es war ein trockenes Jahr, zu heiß für Europa und ebenso für Portugal. Waldbrände verwüsteten das Land, da alles trocken war. Weinberge, die in niedriger Höhe und mit Südausrichtung gepflanzt wurden, litten am meisten, während die Weißweinreben, die in höherer Lage liegen, nicht betroffen waren. Die Wettervorhersagen deuteten nicht auf Regen hin – das letzte Mal hatte es in der letzten Juniwoche geregnet. Eine Woche später sanken die Temperaturen und förderten eine ausgewogenere phenolische Reifung, bessere Aromen und eine größere Geschmacksvielfalt. Die alten Weinberge in höherer Lage mit Nordausrichtung erreichten aufgrund der Temperaturschwankungen und der normalerweise späteren Lese eine ausgezeichnete Qualität. Die Alkoholwerte tendierten dazu, höher zu sein, und die Säure war niedriger als gewöhnlich, ohne jedoch große Anzeichen von Überreife zu zeigen. Es war ein Jahr, in dem fast alle Rebsorten zur gleichen Zeit erntereif waren, was eine logistische Herausforderung und eine erhöhte Arbeitsmenge in den beiden Kellereien mit sich brachte. Einmal mehr war der Önologe Jorge Moreira für die Bewertung der idealen Reifegrade und die Festlegung des Lesezeitpunkts verantwortlich.
