Undurchdringlicher rubinschwarzer Kern und schmaler violetter Rand. Ein Markenzeichen von Vargellas Vinha Velha: Die Nase ist wunderbar ausgewogen und vollständig und offenbart beim Öffnen im Glas mehrere Schichten und Dimensionen des Aromas. In der Basis ein Coulis aus dunklen und dichten Beeren mit Aromen von Wildfrüchten, Cassis und Schwarzkirsche. Der üppige Reichtum der Frucht wird durch attraktive mineralische und steinige Noten und die dezente Schärfe von Wildkräutern und Zedernholz gemildert. Während sich der Wein weiterentwickelt, entstehen eindrucksvolle Aromen von Bienenwachs, Leder und Zigarrenschachtel sowie unerwartete Resonanzen eines alten Instruments. Der Gaumen wird von dicken, körnigen Tanninen unterstützt und ist voller dichter Aromen von schwarzen und roten Früchten, die sich im Abgang zu einem Crescendo steigern. Ein Wein von majestätischem Ausmaß, der bei Bedarf beweist, dass 2017 ein außergewöhnliches Jahr für alte Reben ist.
