Fernão Favila Vieira wurde 1930 in Funchal geboren und absolvierte die juristische Fakultät der Universität Lissabon. Von Beruf Diplomat, diente er in verschiedenen Teilen der Welt und wurde im Rahmen seiner Aufgaben zum Kommandeur des Ordens des Infanten Dom Henrique ernannt. Zeit seines Lebens widmete er sich literarischen, journalistischen und politischen Aktivitäten. In Ausübung seines Berufes war Fernão Favila Vieira auch ein privilegierter Botschafter des Madeiraweins, der es nie versäumte, ihn zu den unterschiedlichsten Anlässen zu servieren und anzubieten. Für diese Hommage habe ich aus meinen Favoriten die besten Weine der Sorte Boal ausgewählt, die in den letzten 40 Jahren in unseren Lagerhäusern nach der traditionellen Canteiro-Methode gereift sind, und denen ich andere hinzugefügt habe, die noch viel älter waren. Im Juli 2018 wurden 739 Einheiten abgefüllt, einzeln nummeriert.
