Es war auf der Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo, wo die erste Studie für die monovarietale Bepflanzung in der Region Douro stattfand. Zwischen 1979 und 1981 wurden in Zusammenarbeit mit dem portugiesischen Landwirtschaftsministerium, durch das Centro de Estudos Vitivinícolas do Douro, auf der Quinta Nova die besten Sonnenexpositionen für die Pflanzung von drei Rebsorten ausgewählt: Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional und Touriga Franca. Das Parzelle 28 der Quinta Nova, bepflanzt mit der Rebsorte Tinta Roriz, bestehend aus 2650 Rebstöcken und einer Neigung von 25, befindet sich in einer Höhe zwischen 205 und 210 Metern. Diese Rebsorte zeigt deutlich die Herausforderungen des Weinbaus und die menschliche Ausdauer, ein altes und authentisches Douro zu bewahren. Die Strenge der Rebsorte ist im Geschmack bemerkbar, aber gleichzeitig werden wir von einer etwas zeitgenössischen Raffinesse verführt, die zusammen mit dem hundertjährigen Weinberg (Parzelle 21) eine Cuvée erzeugt, die eine Referenz im portugiesischen Douro darstellt, ein Wein voller Mineralität, blauer Früchte, reich an würzigen Noten mit einer festen Struktur und einem sehr schlanken Mundgefühl. Die hohe Konzentration, Dichte und Tiefe drücken ihre Herkunft gut aus. Produktion: 3900 Flaschen.
