Sein Name ist inspiriert von den Kartäusermönchen, die seit 1598 ein zurückgezogenes Leben des Gebets im Kartäuserkloster führten, das Eigentum der Fundação Eugénio de Almeida ist und wo er in der Stille seiner Keller reift. Mit einer starken Persönlichkeit und aus einer strengen Auswahl stammend, hat der Wein Cartuxa einen eigenen Ausdruck und ein eigenes Universum. Er wurde erstmals 1986 produziert und ist das Bild von Tradition und Qualität. Cartuxa ist ein klassischer Wein aus dem Alentejo.
