Quinta das Carvalhas ist ein Anwesen von großer Schönheit und Spektakel, mit einer vorherrschenden Lage am Hang des linken Ufers des Flusses Douro in Pinhão, der sich entlang der Hänge des rechten Ufers des Nebenflusses Rio Torto erstreckt. Die ältesten schriftlichen Erwähnungen über die Quinta stammen aus dem Jahr 1759. Quinta das Carvalhas Vintage 2011 Portweinherstellung: Es werden nur perfekt reife Trauben geerntet, wobei der Vorgang während der gesamten Erntezeit wiederholt wird. Sobald sie geerntet sind, werden sie in kleinen Kisten zum Weingut transportiert. Dabei beginnt der alte Prozess des Fußtretens in traditionellen Granitpressen, die aufgrund ihrer Form einen perfekten Kontakt zwischen dem Most und den Schalen ermöglichen und so eine bessere Extraktion ermöglichen. Die Gärung wird durch Zugabe von Weinbrand unterbrochen, gefolgt von einer zweijährigen Reifung in Eichenfässern.
