Der Croft LBV wurde entwickelt, um der Nachfrage nach einem Produkt von überlegener Qualität gerecht zu werden, das jedoch sofort und täglich konsumiert werden kann, als Alternative zur Palette der Vintage Portweine. Im Gegensatz zu einem typischen Vintage Port, der erst zwei Jahre nach seiner Reifung im Holz abgefüllt wird und seine Reifung in der Flasche abschließt, wird dieser LBV nach vier bis sechs Jahren Reifung abgefüllt und kann zum Zeitpunkt der Abfüllung konsumiert werden.
