1988 pflanzte ich einen Hektar Reben der Rebsorte Baga, wie sie Ende des 18. Jahrhunderts vor der verheerenden Phyloxera-Plage verwendet wurden. Dieser Schädling verwüstete die Weinberge in Europa, und von da an begann man, die Weinreben auf amerikanische Rebstöcke zu veredeln und nicht mehr in Pé Franco anzupflanzen. Der Weinberg liegt auf sandigem Boden, da sich der Schädling in Weinbergen mit diesem Bodentyp nicht entwickelt. Das Ergebnis gefiel mir so gut, dass ich zehn Jahre später weitere eineinhalb Hektar hinzufügte. Mit diesem Wein versuche ich zu beweisen, dass Weine vor dieser Verwüstung, selbst wenn sie auf die heutige Art hergestellt wurden, anders, konzentrierter und mit einem ausgeprägteren Sortencharakter sind. Aus der Ernte 2015 wurden 2366 Flaschen mit 750 ml, 50 Flaschen mit 1,5 l und 50 Flaschen mit 3 l Fassungsvermögen produziert.
