Angetrieben von dem Traum, großartige Douro-Weine mit der gleichen Produktionsphilosophie wie ihre besten Portweine zu produzieren, produzierte Casa Ferreirinha 1952 die erste Ernte eines Weins, der zu einer nationalen und internationalen Referenz werden sollte – Barca Velha.
Die Ernte 2004 ist ein geheimnisvoller Wein voller Emotionen und offenbart blumige Aromen (Lavendel und Veilchen), sehr reife Früchte sowie würzige und balsamische Noten, die harmonisch mit Holz von ausgezeichneter Qualität harmonieren.
Gemäß den traditionellen Grundsätzen von Casa Ferreirinha liegt das „Geheimnis“ von Barca Velha in der strengen Auswahl der besten Parzellen, die aus Trauben aus verschiedenen Lagen und Höhenlagen des Douro Superior vinifiziert werden, wobei seit 1980 Weinberge aus diesem Gebiet vorherrschen Quinta da Führen.
Um seine höchste Qualität zu bewahren, wurde dieser Wein ohne Kältebehandlung abgefüllt und kann einen leichten Belag bilden. Es muss dekantiert werden.
