Unsere Vintage Ports werden von der Natur produziert. Wenn wir an die Natur denken, denken wir an all die Art und Weise, wie sie unsere Sinne fasziniert. Die Natur ist lebendig, mobil und reproduktiv. Es ist unsere Natur, Weine zu kreieren, die das Leben und die Seele eines Ortes und eines Weins zeigen. Wir wollen es lebendig in einer Flasche sehen. Die Idee, das abzufüllen, was die Natur geschaffen hat, macht die Weinherstellung so spannend.
Diese Sonderausgabe zum 400-jährigen Jubiläum ist eine Hommage an die Arbeit unserer Familie mit Douro-Weinen seit 400 Jahren, aber auch an Vintage Port und die Großartigkeit der Weine, die das Douro-Tal hervorbringen kann. Van Zellers & Co Vintage Porto wird aus den besten einheimischen Rebsorten unserer alten Weinberge hergestellt. Alle Trauben werden zu Fuß gestampft und in Lagares aus Granitstein vergoren. Er reift 18 bis 24 Monate lang in großen Fässern aus sehr altem Holz, bevor er am auf dem Etikett angegebenen Datum ohne Schönung oder Filtration in Flaschen abgefüllt wird. Das Ergebnis ist ein dunkelroter Wein, vollmundig und mit toller Struktur, mit sehr intensiven Aromen von roten Früchten. Es wird viele Jahre altern. Da es sich bei Portwein um einen Naturwein handelt, setzt er sich nach einiger Reifung in der Flasche ab. Daher sollte er vor dem Servieren bei 16°C sorgfältig dekantiert und zu Schokoladen- oder Stilton-Käse-Desserts serviert werden.
