Akashi Single Malt 5 Jahre Red Wine Cask ist ein Whisky, der von der Destillerie Eigashima - White Oak, im Süden Japans, an den Ufern des Seto-Inlandmeeres, produziert wird. Für diese limitierte Edition hat der Chef Blender des Hauses sorgfältig einige Single Malts ausgewählt, die viereinhalb Jahre in Cognac-Fässern gereift sind, bevor sie für eine Reifung von 10 Monaten in französische Rotweinfässer transferiert wurden. Akashi Single Malt 5 Jahre Red Wine Cask wird ohne Farbstoffe und ohne Kaltfiltration mit einem Alkoholgehalt von 50 % abgefüllt. Relativ unbekannt, gehört die Destillerie White Oak jedoch zur Geschichte des japanischen Whiskys, da sie die erste Destillerie in Japan war, die 1888 eine Destillationslizenz erhielt. Allerdings begann die sporadische Produktion von Malzbränden erst 1919, und 1984 wurde eine völlig neue Anlage zur Whiskyproduktion am Standort Eigashima eingerichtet.
