Das Haus Martell wurde 1715 von Jean Martell gegründet, nachdem er seine Heimatstadt Jersey verlassen hatte, um sich in Frankreich niederzulassen mit dem Ziel, die Kunst der Cognac-Herstellung zu perfektionieren. Sein Motto lautete "Ich will nur das Beste, ohne Schnörkel". Nach seinem Tod im Jahr 1753 wuchs sein Erbe unter der Leitung seiner Frau Rachel Martell. Vier Kuriositäten: Es ist der einzige, der während der Kontinentalsperre (1807-1808) nach England exportiert wurde, wurde bei der Krönungszeremonie von König Georg V. von England im Jahr 1911 serviert und bei einem Gala-Dinner zur Feier der Hochzeit von Fürst Rainier von Monaco mit Grace Kelly. 1977 konnten die Passagiere des Verbindungsflugs zwischen Paris und New York, durchgeführt vom legendären Concorde, einen Martell Cordon Bleu genießen, der auch 1986 im legendären Orient-Express serviert wurde, der Venedig und Kopenhagen verbindet. Im Jahr 2005 brachte die Marke den Martell XO auf den Markt, der schnell zu einem Klassiker und einem Symbol dieses Hauses wurde. Das 300-jährige Erbe an Know-how und Leidenschaft wird mit dem Cognac L'Or de Jean Martell gefeiert.
