Una vigna che sta per compiere 80 anni, con varie lacune derivanti da un parziale abbandono durato alcuni anni. In una zona di intensa esposizione e con enormi affioramenti di scisto in superficie dove non sopravvive nemmeno un'erba. La gente della Quinta l'ha presto soprannominata "Vigna dell'Abbandonato". Per anni hanno cercato di recuperare la vigna e reimpiantare le viti scomparse. Fino a quando hanno desistito. Nonostante tutte le cure, solo le viti più vecchie erano in grado di sopravvivere in condizioni così estreme. Nel 2004 hanno deciso di isolarla per la prima volta nella cantina della Quinta da Gaivosa. Ha rivelato immediatamente una personalità e un carattere unici. Hanno deciso di imbottigliarlo in omaggio alle altrettanto uniche vigne vecchie del Douro, che un giorno scompariranno. Oggi celebriamo!

Bocca piena di armonia, con intensità ma anche delicatezza, mineralità e un'eccezionale purezza del frutto. Si percepisce lo scisto dei suoli, la foresta circostante, la freschezza dell'altitudine, in una pura espressione della natura della vigna.
Grande complessità e freschezza aromatica, con insolite note balsamiche e di catrame, liquirizia e frutti neri, tipiche della vigna dell'Abbandonato.
