Impulsada por el sueño de producir grandes vinos del Duero con la misma filosofía de elaboración que sus mejores vinos de Oporto, Casa Ferreirinha produjo en 1952 la primera cosecha de un vino que se convertiría en una referencia nacional e internacional: Barca Velha.
Un vino misterioso y lleno de emociones, la cosecha 2004 revela aromas florales (lavanda y violeta), fruta muy madura, además de notas especiadas y balsámicas integradas armoniosamente con una madera de excelente calidad.
Según los principios tradicionales de Casa Ferreirinha, el "secreto" de Barca Velha reside en la rigurosa selección de los mejores lotes vinificados con uvas procedentes de diferentes zonas y altitudes del Duero Superior, con predominio, desde 1980, de los viñedos de Quinta da Leda.
Para preservar su máxima calidad, este vino fue embotellado sin tratamiento de frío y puede formar un ligero depósito. Hay que decantarlo.
