As uvas para produzir este vinho provêm da vinha do Carril, uma vinha com mais de 70 anos virada a norte, e de vinhas velhas com cerca de 100 anos, próximas da Quinta de Nápoles. O Batuta resulta de uma vinificação delicada, com macerações prolongadas, mas com pouca extração onde todos os detalhes são cuidadosamente considerados para que se obtenha um vinho complexo, fino e elegante. É cheio de concentração, própria das vinhas velhas do Douro, mas simultaneamente fresco e delicado.
