Un viñedo se acerca a los 80 años, con varios defectos derivados del abandono parcial durante algunos años. En una zona de intensa exposición y con enormes afloramientos de esquisto en la superficie donde no queda ni una sola hierba. La gente de Quinta rápidamente la apodó “Vinha do Abandonado”. Durante años intentaron recuperar el viñedo y replantar las cepas desaparecidas. Hasta que se dieron por vencidos. A pesar de todos los cuidados, sólo las cepas más antiguas pudieron sobrevivir en condiciones tan extremas. En 2004 decidieron aislarlo por primera vez en la bodega Quinta da Gaivosa. Inmediatamente reveló una personalidad y un carácter únicos. Decidieron embotellarlo en honor a las viñas viejas del Duero, igualmente únicas, que algún día desaparecerán. ¡Hoy celebramos!
El corazón del arbusto es profundo.
Boca llena de armonía, con intensidad pero también delicadeza, mineralidad y una extraordinaria pureza de fruta. Se siente la pizarra del suelo, el bosque circundante, el frescor de la altitud, en pura expresión de la naturaleza del viñedo.
Gran complejidad y frescor aromático, con inusuales notas balsámicas y de alquitrán, regaliz y frutos negros, propias del viñedo Abandonado.
